Prior to the invention of the cotton gin by Eli Whitney separating the cotton seeds from the fibers took a great deal of work making cotton not very profitable. Some even believed that slavery would collapse as an effective system simply because of unprofitably. The invention of the cotton gin made it much easier to separate the seeds from the fibers so much more cotton could be produced. this caused slavery to expand rapidly in the American south.
The production of cotton grew because of the gin. With more cotton more slaves were needed to pick, grow, and prepare the cotton. There is a direct relationship between the number of bales of cotton produced and the population of slaves.
none, it just made the slaves work faster and made the whites more money
Made cotton-growing a huge growth industry
😐 idk
it increased slavery
The growth of slavery was a negative effect of the cotton gin. Because the gin could remove the seeds from the cotton boll more cotton was grown. Therefore more slaves were needed. As the amount of cotton grew so did the need for slaves.
The South became the cotton producing part of the country because of the cotton gin. Promoted "cotton-picking" by slaves, and therefore, promoted slavery.
The Cotton Gin
The cotton gin led to a rise in slavery by allowing the cotton plantation to be more productive. What is a "democratic gin"?
