I believe they need a lot of schooling because they have to go through school for 8 or so years.
No.... i just looked it up and it turns out you need an bachelors degree with concentration in Biology or pre medicine. then you have to attend a 4 year medical school. then you have to enroll in a obstetrician/gynecologist program which generally takes four years too. so not 8, 12!! that's insane.
