Well, there is no "has to be" there is just what is your GPA. It is harder to get into some colleges than into others. 3.5 is honor roll and is usually excepted by ALL colleges. There may be a few who wont take you unless you have like a 4.0. you should always set a goal when it comes to GPA's and make SURE it is reasonable. For instance..
you have a 3.0 GPA.... in the first quarter. Second quarter make a goal like 3.3... then third quarter shoot for 3.5. If you still can't make it try again or make your goal easier.
Always keep in mind that good grades don't come with a touch of a wand so if you are trying to get a good GPA... work hard and stay on task...
PS... a good GPA is a 3.0. It is a B average! Good luck!

Typically, for the undergraduate degree, you must have a 2.0 (C) GPA to graduate. However, there are some programs that might require a higher GPA. For example, some nursing programs require a 2.5 (C+) GPA to graduate.
About 3.3
The minimum requirements to graduate from high school, is to have at least a 2.5 GPA. If you have any GPA lower than that, you will have to retake the classes to make up for it. How do I know this? I have been a high school teacher for more than 10 years.

A 4.5 GPA is good enough to graduate and go to an IVY graduate school.
After you graduate from high school, you apply as an undergraduate, whether you finish with a 4.00 or a 1.00. After you get your undergrad, which on average takes four yours, you can then apply to graduate school if you do choose. They are two completely different things.
