The word "Vore" comes from the same root as the words herbivore, carnivore and omnivore. That root is vorare, Latin for devour. The vore fetish, also known as vorarephilia (from the Latin) or, earlier in its history, phagophilia, can concern anything from an interest in--and a potential practice of--sexual cannibalism. This is obviously not always consummated and tends more to be something to which the vorarephile's fantasy life is compelled. The fantasy does not always concern human beings, nor does it always concern living creatures. I invite the reader to do his or her own continuing research.

Occasionally, though, a consummate--and consummated--vore/vorarephile does make the news, sometimes even consensually. Armin Meiwes is a good name to search under to get some intimation of an at least somewhat repentant, consensual cannibal (his dinner died. Happily, it seems). Issei Sagawa is another name worth looking up--less repentant, more food critic. This became his career after his imprisonment in France for his vorare, shall we say, of a Dutch girlfriend. There is at least one noteworthy art book written on the subject of Sagawa.

Wrong. Vore is the fetish of the FANTASY of eating or eating of others. It has two catagories, hard and soft vore.

Soft vore is the eating of prey whole and alive

hard vore is the eating of people through chewing.

Cannabalism is this made real, and is not only a separate fetish, but downright nasty to most voraphiles
