The Fairtrade Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products as a guarantee that the disadvantaged cotton producers in the developing world are getting a better deal. For a product to display the Fairtrade Mark it must meet the rigorous international Fairtrade standards. This applies all through the supply chain, from the ginning of the cotton through to manufacture and printing of the garment. In addition to this a percentage of the sale price is returned via the Fair Trade Foundation to the farmers who grow the cotton.

Fair Trade is a standard of products where there is a set standard of ethical treatment of workers and farmers in the trading process. It refers to farmers and workers from third world countries, who can be easily taken advantage of. When a company uses Fair Trade products, it's a sign that they are held to keeping up with that standard. So Fair Trade chocolate is chocolate manufactured from cocoa beans and other products farmed and traded by people treated according to the standard.
Many people never think about what the fair trade mark means, thinking its just a sign that makes people think about Fair Trade. But there is more to the blue, green and black symbol than people think. The fair trade mark shows that the product it is on is "Fair Trade certified" meaning that it has been grown and produced from a fair trade farmer and this trade mark has been copy righted so that unless they are actually produced from a fair trade farmer and cannot be forged by any farmers who are not from fair trade. The mark of Fair Trade is used in over 50 countries around the world.

When a product is certified as being 'fair trade' it means that those who grew the cocoa beans received a fair price and that those who harvested the beans were paid a fair wage. There is no difference in type and quality of these beans from other beans, and thus there is no difference in the chocolate. However, fair trade chocolate is more expensive because of the higher (fairer) price paid to the growers and workers.
Yes. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Martin: Martin has been particularly outspoken on issues of fair trade and has campaigned for the charity Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign. He traveled to Ghana and Haiti to meet farmers and view the effects of unfair trade practices. When performing he usually has variations of "Make Trade Fair", "MTF" or an equal sign written on the back of his left hand and the letters "MTF" can be seen emblazoned on his piano.
