The ends of the bones in joints are keptseparated by cartilage. first of all the cartilage that separates the bones and gives them a smooth lubricated surface to work against is destroyed. After that the bones start to rub directly against each other. aside from wearing painfully and unnaturally, the body tries to repair the damaged bone. This leads to an even worse situation with the joints getting constantly harder to use.

Gout occurs when there are high levels of uric acid circulating in the blood, and the acid crystallizes and settles in the body.

Gout when it settles in a joint or joints causes swelling, inflammation and pain. Over time if not treated then gout can do serious damage to the affected joints.

Gout is the disease caused by the presence of too high a concentration of uric acid in the blood. When this happens the uric acid starts to crystallize into microscopic sharp shards these shards in-turn usually first become obvious in the joints of the extremity's like the hands and feet often the big toe is the first to be effected. the crystals are extremely painful and lead to serious inflammation and joint damage They are also able to settle in other parts of the body like the ears and in the kidneys.
