Democracy could exist without political parties. Parties, in many schools of political theory, serve as coordinating institutions where individuals with common interests work in a group to attain their ends more readily than by themselves. Parties are useful because they allow for common control and operation of democratic institutions, but democracy could operate without them. For example, in many countries, elections (where at the municipal, sub-federal, or federal level) don't allow candidates to be affiliated with any particular political party.
Because we are citizens of democratic nations, we participate in the political process, if only by voting, and we should be prepared to do so in an intelligent and constructive manner. A good education in political science helps us to do that.
All autocratic leaders share similar qualities. They are often dictators, who rule with an iron fist and allow no-one to oppose them. When Marcos was alive, he was known for repressing dissent-- those he believed were his political enemies were imprisoned or even killed. He did not allow freedom of the press, and he curtailed civil liberties. He also used the military to help him control the population.
The early Christians understood that money could corrupt bible principles for some. To allow favors or money to establish people in positions of authority does not enhance spirituality but degrade it. We see this too many times today where money can influence judicial proceedings or influence political systems so to allow money to compromise our basic moral standards is or should be rejected by true Christians.
Even more so in fact. The existence of a single political arm would allow for heavy misuse of the ability to appoint individuals to office. There would not be checks and balances that our government permits to prevent such abuses

Sources have a number of roles:They provide evidence and support for what you say. They enable you to discuss evidence that may seem to run counter to what you claim. They allow readers to see where your claims and ideas come from and to verify them. For example, if a reader thinks you have misunderstood another scholar or scientist, he or she can check on that. The kinds of sources used can help readers assess on what level you have conducted your research.
Understanding practical and theoretical limitations can allow a scholar to carefully limit their area of expertise and research. Acknowledging limitations also allows for isolating sources of error.
