There is no such thing as a first year plumber, your start off on a 5 year apprenticeship then after passing several tests per year practical and code and theory you take a test to become a journeyman plumber and you get the same amount of money as a journeyman with 10 years experience UNLESS your a great mechanic then the employer will pay you above scale

You would need to find a trade school in your area to learn plumbing. Some plumbers do have apprenticeships, too.
First off you need to finish high school. Then you can take one of two paths to become a plumber, the first method is joining your local plumbers union and applying for a four year apprenticeship. The second method is joining a local trade school and doing all their classes related to plumbing. Afterwords you may apply for your license as a full-time plumber.
You can use this page as a reference: http://www.edref.com/college-degrees/building-trade-and-construction/pipefitting-and-plumbing/illinois . There may or may not be a school available in your city but online training is readily available. Most plumbers learn their trade as an apprentice to a Journeyman or Master Plumber. In fact you have to work as an apprentice for a length of time before you can apply for your Journeyman's License. So the way to learn a plumber is to get a job with a plumber.
