What does the mangekyo sharingan do?

The new sharingan he gained also granted him a technique called amerterasu which allows him to control a kind of black fire that has the ability to burn a human to the bone. He can also use Itachi's famous Tsukuyomi which is the ability that was used on Kakashi in episode 82 of the first series. The first two abilities made a debut when used by Itachi in shippuden 138.

Not only does this process restore one's eyesight and ensure that the light will never leave the eyes again, but it also gives the person greater power.
