It means there is a problem with your Compact Flash card. It may need reformatting.
It may not be in the slot properly.
It may be damages or the contcts might be dirty.
The images are there while the CF is in the camera too. The camera is just unable to read them. How did they get put there? A photo stored on the CF directly from the computer will not show up unless the camera thinks it did them.
CF stands for Compact Flash. Compact Flash cards are approximately 1.25x2.5" in size, and are used as a kind of digital film. The images from the digital camera are recorded on the CF card, which can then be placed inside a CF card reader, connected to a computer, to view and download the images. Most, if not all, professional-grade DSLR camera bodies use CF cards, as they have high capacities (currently upwards of 32GB) and are extremely durable. Many consumer-grade cameras use SD, XD or Memory Stick cards, rather than CF cards.
err vegetable i think
It's just as correct to say this term as it is to say "err on the side of [anything]". "Doctors want to err on the side of caution."
It is how high, low or what side the camera is. Read the article link to see what I mean. Hope this helps.

To err is to make an error. Erred is the past tense of err.
Here's a guess: Card Full. If your card is full, then the camera won't take any more pictures. You need to upload the pictures to your computer, and then you erase your card.
"err" usually means "error", but then again "to err is human".

Yo use it to transfer images from a digital camera to and from your computer.
To err is human.
It sounds like the camera may have a fault; do the cards work plugged into other devices (your computer or another camera)? Is there an error number/message associated with the error? no error number just a flashing light and cf card error in the frame camera will not allow me to go in setup or do anything.
