How do you become Amish?

You need to be born Amish. They do accept some people who want to give up their ways but you need to speak the language.

Pennsylvania Dutch- this is a low German that I think only the Amish speak now or some people in the small towns of Pennsylvania or other states. My grandparents spoke it but would not teach me because it was a way of communication when they didn't want others to know what they were saying.

The Amish are descended from Jesus believing Jewish ancestry, that are living a ultra Orthodox lifestyle, without all the rituals associated with the Jewish faith.

In basic terms they are suppose be selfsuficient off the gride trying not to realy on technology but hard work to get by, but the elders modify the Ordnung occasional and more so of late, and have continually adopted modern connivance for men's aid than the woman's, as business comes first.

It is hard to understand and even seems hypocritical their policies, to stay separated from outside technology, yet they are immersed with modern convinces like gas engines, phones, electric lights, washing machines, gas stoves, indoor and many more conveniences than some outsiders like us.

you may not know that you are Amish because some Amish people do not go by the Amish way but even so you are still Amish in your blood. if these following statements are true about you and your family then you may be Amish. Amish people are people whose ancestors were born and raised in northern Europe but then traveled to America they may have been genarations older than you or they might be your grandparents they may have been vikings, whom sailed to America in a ship or regular people who just took an airplane. either way, if this happened to you, that means that you are Amish
