If you know you are HIV positive from the results of a blood test, you should talk to the Doctor Who did it about a course of pills. There are good medications now that mean you can have hardly any problems with HIV if you take them regularly. Depending on where you live, you may be able to get these. You should also always use a condom when having sex, as there is always a danger that you will pass on the HIV virus. The HIV virus, which may lead to AIDS if untreated, is spread by sharing needles and by sexual intercourse. So to avoid HIV, you should never share injecting needles (get a new one, or make sure the old one is REALLY sterile), and you should always use a condom when having sex. HIV usually can't be spread by oral sex. The virus has to pass into your bloodstream. If you have terrible teeth and your gums are all bleeding then you shouldn't be sucking any strange penises. HIV CAN'T be spread through toothpicks, razors, toothbrushes, cutlery, plates, glasses etc. It can't be spread through kissing or masturbation.

First and foremost go to an HIV or infectious disease doctor or clinic. Then if necessary, do what is needed to be done such as being started on HIV meds, having your t- cells checked regularly( in case of a drop which could lead to AIDS), and keep yourself as healthy and safe as possible.

A support group or therapy could also be helpful and is reccomended to deal with your coping with the diagnosis. Also, contacting your local HIV/AIDS resource center is important as well and will help you out and guide you where you need to be or what you should be doing.

Remeber that HIV isn't a death sentence and you can live a healthy and productive life if you do the right things to take care of your self .

Go to the doctor's office or a clinic and ask for an HIV/STD test. They will draw blood and run it through a machine to see if you are indeed HIV positive or not. However, you might not get your result the same day. The analysis takes a few days.
