they need. . . . . . . . . . . water, maybe some newspaper, soft bedding, and hamster food. you can probably find some other things at a hamster store.
hamsters live for about 2 years and like to sleep in a warm nest they also love to eat fresh fruit and veg eg: lettuce tomatoes strawberrys.WARNING:some fruit and veg is poisonous to hamsters.
If your hamster was to live to 18 months this is a great age too and they do start to go bald as a sign of age!

Yes, normall syrian hamsters and most other hamsters ould need a cage to stay in so that he dosnet run round oyur house. It would need a house in its cage for it to sleep in. Also fresh water & food, and toys to play and chew on.
I will be very specific so please read in till the end there are many kinds of hamster for one the Syrian hamster they are easy to handle easy to take, the dwarf hamsters they are hard to handle because they are small and very quick,
THE BEDDING
There are bedding that are very good for hamsters like care fresh and ashen ( NEVER EVER buy pine or cedar bedding because hamster tend to sometimes eat there own bedding and the oils are poisonous to hamsters, also NEVER EVER buy the fluffy bedding it can cause an I infection in there cheek pouches and it can clog there intestines and can wrap around there limps and the hamster may chew there own limp off )
FOOD
There are some amazing foods out there but some can contain ba food for your hamster like dry tomatoes, there are some good ones like hazel hamster tasty mix and oxbo pellets but just pellets are not good for your hamster they need a variety of foods, and seeds but not pits of fruits that is not good for them
HUMAN FOODS
You may give your hamster humans foods like grapes, cherry ( no pits ) and etc. but check out hamsterific.com and find there page about acceptable foods for hamster ( I'm not sure if it's called that )
WATER BOTTLES
I know I know it's not that important right sorry no there are some water bottles that leak and no hamster likes a wet home and some water bottles also contain bta and bta is not good for hamster to have in there water the bta is inside the water bottle and that's not good but it's good to get a coconose water bottle theirs are bta free and non leak
FOOD BOWLS
Well this is kind of important get a somewhat big food bowl because some hamsters like sitting on there food
TOYS
Toys- hamsters need chew toys to keep there teeth down if they get to long you can take them to a vet and the vet can clip them and your hamster needs more than chew toys they need other toys so there brain can be stimulated so you don't have a misbehaving hammy
1) A cage. Hamster cages are often expensive, so a birdcage or fish tank without silicone will do.
2) A wheel. They need tons of exercise!
3) Hamster bedding. Wood chips or shredded newspaper works, although the ink from newspapers may make the hamster ill.
4) A suck bottle. Instead of water bowls, hamsters need water bottles.
5) A food bowl. Ceramic food bowls are recommended, although hamsters can eat off of small saucers.
6) Your love. Without this, a hamster will live a short, unhappy life.
you need a cage that has at least enough room for a hideaway, food dish, water bottle, and toys. You should also have food specially for hamsters(or gerbils) , but you can always feed them certain fruits and veggies. Since their teeth are always growing, make sure to get some chew toys, they are not expensive and can be found in any pet store. i recently got a Syrian hamster, and i hope my knowledge helps
Hamsters that live in the wild die very quickly, because birds or other animals can easily eat them or kill them because they're so small and they don't know whats right to eat or is wrong to eat. They can also die because of hunger....

dwarf hamsters need the same bedding as normal hamsters which is straw or shavings which you can get in a pet shop.
Yes. But hamsters also need grains.
Hamsters need salt for the same reason we do, without it our nervous system could not function. It is not mandatory to have a salt lick or salt wheel for your hamster but it would be a good idea. Hamsters live in the wild where they get their minerals from plants and stuff. Hamsters can't always get minerals and the salt they need in their cage that's why its a good idea to get a salt lick or something for your hamster.
who actually cares I need a better answer
