For fishing the Vikings used next to catch fish, along the coast fish was a major portion of their diet. The Vikings used several weapons for hunting such as spears, bows and arrows, and sling shots.

They farmed in their homelands initially and hunted wild animals such as deer and boar, they were also expert fishermen. But they soon began to realise that their lands were not very fertile and too cold to grow crops properly, so they conquered other lands such as Iceland and Greenland.

They also raided their European neighbours for supplies such as food and gold, England being the most famous example - until the monarch granted the Vikings permission to settle on a section of English lands. When they were granted permission to settle in England, eventually the Viking raids died out as the race became more and more civilised and blended in with English culture.

Scandinavia, Iceland and Greenland still have a trace of Viking culture to this day.

Vikings used dog packs to catch boars, and had a special spears to prevent being gored by the boar. They also used bows and arrow and slings to hunt birds.
