Moors were among the Muslims who invaded Spain 711. They settled southern Spain, and maintained kingdoms there until 1492, when they were conquered, and most of them left soon after as a result of practices of the Spanish Inquisition. In the meantime, they had contributed to one of the most advanced societies in Europe.
