∙ 9y agoThe Adams Onis treaty gave the United States the state of Florida, and settled a border dispute with Mexico. The treaty also gave the United States property rights the included the Rocky Mountains, and stretched out to the Pacific Ocean.

∙ 9y agoThis treaty ceded Florida to the United States and settled the disputed southern border between the Louisiana territory of the US and New Spain, which included Texas and California. Spain also ceded its claims on Oregon to the United States. The US agreed to settle up to $5 million in claims made by American citizens against the Spanish government of Florida. Both sides honored the treaty and Spain and the US were at peace for about 80 years.
