the phones in the past had cords and were mad by Alexander bellin march 10 1876. they had no color an all so. mostly only the welthy could aford them till later on more people could aford them.
They were big, black, had antenas the screan was green and there and their was no camarers on them neither good music or blue tooth on them. they could not connect to the internet and they were a little bit ugle.
The telephone used to be a chunk of plastic with a set of large numbers on it, and two cords- one attached to the wall, one to a handheld piece- as well as a resting place for said handheld piece. The handheld piece was shaped similar to the green and red buttons on modern day cell-phones, or as they used to call them, 'cellular mobile telephone device'. Of course, this is just a myth- no one is alive today who remembers what the hell a corded telephone is. Some say it didn't even have proper buttons at first, but rather a circle with numbers in it!! Again, wives tales, but who knows?
Same reason they're useful today - it lets people talk to other people even if they're far away.
