In Act I, Scene I of Romeo and Juliet, following the exit of the Prince and others, Benvolio first recounts to the Montagues the beginning of the fight that just occurred. He says that when he got to the fight, he saw the servants of the Capulet and Montague houses fighting and when he tried to stop the fight, Tybalt (a capulet) began to fight with him. He then explains how the fighting escalated until Prince Escalus arrived and ended the fight.
Next, Lady M. asks Benvolio about her son, Romeo. Benvolio explains that Romeo is pretty bummed out but he isn't sure why, and he's seen Romeo wandering around and avoiding people. Lord Montague then recounts how he's seen Romeo sighing and crying, shutting himself away in the dark inside his house. Nobody seems to be able to figure out why Romeo is so unhappy and they all stand around wondering what they could do to help when Romeo enters.
Why Romeo is acting depressed. I guess Benvolio tells the Montagues the reason, but we don't see it.
The characters were: Romeo, Juliet, Lord Capulet, Lady Capulet, Lord Montague, Lady Montague, The Nurse, County Paris, Prince Escalus, Friar Lawrence, Friar John, Mercutio, Balthasar, Benvolio, Tybalt, Samson, and Gregory.
Tybalt is associated with the Capulets, and he thinks of himself as a Capulet, but he is actually not a Capulet at all. He is the son of Lady Capulet's brother, and Lady Capulet is only a Capulet by marriage. That is why it is Lady Capulet, and not Lord Capulet, who is so furious with Romeo after he kills Tybalt.
Tybalt sends a letter to the Montague household. We learn that from Benvolio when he says to Mercutio "Tybalt, the kinsman of old Capulet, hath sent a letter to his father's house"(II, iv, 6-7) Who Benvolio means by "his father's house" is Romeo's father's house who is Montague and why Tybalt sends the letter to Montague because is to challenge Romeo in a fight.
He loves Rosaline, but Rosaline does not love him.
Juliet's parents are named Lord Capulet and Lady Capulet, whereas Romeo's parents are named Lord Montague and Lady Montague.I've read the play, and as far as I could tell, it never says their given names, but if you want to refer to them, call them the above names (their last names).

Yes, He is Lord Montague's nephew and Romeo's cousin.
Benvolio is Romeo's cousin. Lord and Lady Montague are Romeo's parents. Balthasar is Romeo's "man" or servant. Obviously, Juliet is Romeo's wife.
The Nephew of Lord Montague and good friend of Romeo is Benvolio. He is known for being peace-loving and always trying to prevent conflict between the Montagues and Capulets. The name Benvolio means "good will" in Italian.

Somewhat protective. When she finds out that there was a fight in the market, she asks Benvolio where Romeo is, saying "right glad I am he was not in this fray." Her only other line is restraining Montague from fighting with Capulet. And the only other thing we know about her is that she apparently dies from grief at Romeo's exile. This also suggests protectiveness. But let's face it, this is really sketchy information. We really don't know anything about Lady M.
