All beings are subject to Dukkha. Dukkha is usually translated as suffering but it actually encompasses a wide range of negative feelings including stress, dissatisfaction and physical suffering. Dukkha exists as all beings are subject to illness, separation from loved ones, not getting their desires, aging and death. Dukkha arises from desire and craving. All beings crave pleasant sensations, and also desire to avoid unpleasant sensations. These sensations can be physical or psychological, and dukkha arises when these desires and cravings are not met. Dukkha can be overcome by the elimination of desire and craving. Nibbana is the state of peace where all greed, hatred and delusion, and thereby dukkha, have been eradicated. There is a way out of dukkha, which is the Noble Eightfold Path. Dukkha can be reduced, weakened and finally eradicated and Nibbana thereby attained, by following this path as taught by the Buddha. It's not Nibbana- it's prononce as NIRVANA, which mean u r free from all sorrows and desire.

Buddha discovered enlightenment, or Shunyata (emptiness) which means; (among other things), realization of the illusion of an individual ego or self. That the self and everything that exists is empty of an abiding essence. That nothing exists inherently from it's own side. Everything that exists exists only dependent upon causes and conditions and not objectively, solidly or inherently. Everything is simply a collection of it's parts and not an entity of it's own. Which more than implies that there is no soul. But most relevantly for humans from the perspective of suffering and the human condition that the ego-personality and for that matter the body-mind-complex and everything else that exists is utterly empty, is an illusion and very much like a dream. This is the enlightenment that the Buddha realized and there is great debate amongst those who do not know as to whether this event or process is just that a sudden event or a gradual realization that occurs in stages. Lke all organized religions Buddhism has different sects or schools that differ and bicker amongst themselves about dogma, doctrine and even the proper way to practice. There is also a great deal of mythology surrounding Buddhism, Buddha and the practice that has nothing to do with reality, (much like other religions), although there is also valid debate as to whether what actually constitutes Buddhism is religion at all as it involves no matters of faith at all and is concerned only with self-liberation through individual efforts of meditation, austerities, disciplines etc. Buddha taught that this enlightenment is the way to end suffering. There is also great misunderstanding among scholars and others as to what is meant by the ending of suffering. What is meant by this is the suffering caused by craving or desire, which is the source of all (psychic) suffering.

After 46 days of meditating under the Bodhi tree, the Buddha reached what is known as enlightenment which means that he knew the truth about the way things are.

He wanted to find out the reason why suffering existed and he had found the answer through deep thought. "The origin of suffering was being greedy which comes from thinking that we are more important than anybody else."

What was the name of the tree Buddha sat and meditated under?

The Buddha achieved enlightenment while sitting under a fig tree, whose species is now called ficus religious. The specific tree is called The Bodhi tree, where Bodhi means Enlightenment.AnswerThe Buddha just before he became a Buddha as a Bodhisattva, sat under the Assattha (Pali), often called the Bodhi-tree, and thereupon attained enlightenment becoming a Buddha. There is, however, more to this. The Pali word Assattha is probably the past participle of the Pali word, 'assasati' which can literally mean "enter by the breath". This makes sense if we understand that Buddhahood is achieved by access to the fourth meditation or dhyana (Jp., Zen) which utilizes the breath to finally transcend it. Here the mind reaches its apex. Mind awakens to its own immaculate nature, hence, Buddha. That would be the "Bodhi Tree."Although there are many thoughts on this question the original tree, under which Buddha received the enlightenment was Ficus benghalensis, the Banyan.
