Characteristics:-big believer in : limited government (only the things written directly in the Constitution should be followed), democracy, self-sufficiency, distrusted Native Americans, slavery, the federal union (union of the states from the scope of the Constitution)

(because he believed in these things, most people found him as a barrier of the beliefs and ideas of Jefferson; however, he was actually one of the people who actually kept his beliefs constant) -Because he cared so much about his honor, he had a tendency of taking things too personally and sometimes choosing to duel them.

Things_he_did:">Things he did:-used the power of the president in a way that the other presidents before him have never used before so many people had a hard time adapting to it. He opened new windows of power for the presidents that may come after him

Up to this point, all of the presidents had had close relationships with the Congress and most of the time, they had agreed with one another, but Jackson embraced the role of the president as a check in power

Because of his distrust of the Native Americans, he did not allow the Native Americans to win the trial that was between them and Georgia . This led to the later Indian Removal Act and the "Trail of Tears"

-Passed the Tariff of 1822 because he did not see it to be non-Constitutional-->the South's opinion of Jackson changed and he was not seen to popular among the people

-The Bank of the United States at that time, was used as a way to get specie into your own bank. Jackson saw it as non-Constitutional because the Constitution did not state anywhere that there could be a Bank of the United States. He told the secretary of the treasury to take out all the fund from the Bank of the United States and distribute it among smaller banks He

created of "pet banks" (state banks in which the deposited treasury goes into
