The exact day and year is not known, but you can roughly count from Pilate was governor.

Additional information:

Jesus' death occurred in the spring, on Passover Day, Nisan (or Abib) 14, on the Jewish calendar. (Matthew 26:2; John 13:1-3; Exodus 12:1-6; 13:4). A regular Sabbath always occurred on the 7th day of the week, and a 'special Sabbath' always occurred after Passover every year, but when they BOTH occurred at the same time, it was called a Great Sabbath, and this is what happened after Jesus death.(John 19:31) So, it is believed, tha Jesus' death took place on Friday, Nisan 14, 33 C.E (about April)at about 3:00 p.m.-Luke 23:44-46.

Another thought:

Yeshua (not the Greek christ Jesus) died on a Wednesday at 3:00pm in the month of Nissan/Abib during Passover as per Exod. 12:5. He was the passover lamb that was the final sacrifice fulfilling Passover. He was the First Fruit of the new man.

Yeshua died on Wednesday and arose exactly three days and nights (72 hours) later as spoken in the sign of Jonah. He died on a Wednesday and arose on the sabbath (Saturday).

And another answer:

There is much confusion among modern professing Christians regarding Jesus' death [and RESURRECTION... so many seem to forget that 'He is risen,' and tend to leave Him 'dead' in their conversations].

The modern notion is that He died on what our calendar today calls "Friday" and rose one and a half days later, on our Sunday... then apologise for "Jesus' mistakenly thinking He would be in the grave for three days and three nights" [apparently, even God can be wrong in their thinking... even if this mistake is the ONLY"sign" He gave us to PROVE HIS MESSIAHSHIP -- Matt.12:39-40].

These confused souls freely admit, in other words, that Jesus is NOT the Messiah... yet, seem to profess His name, anyway. And nobody bats an eyelash or gives it a second thought. (???)

The Bible tells us, however, that the Messiah would be "cut off" in the "midst of the week" which would cause the nullification of the "sacrificial laws," temporary laws which all pointed to His "perfect sacrifice"; the shedding of the "Divine Blood of God" [Dan.9:26-27]. Literally speaking... this "midst of the week" translates into our 'Wednesday' today].

There are a number of "literal" as well as "prophetic" implications, here, as to the "meaning" of a "week"... but as it turned out -- Jesus was literally murdered on our Wednesday, as this is the only way He could have been in the grave for the time He prescribed, three days and three nights, as PROOF of who He is and be risen by our Sunday, the first day of the week, as the Bible tells us -- Matt.28:1.

[the world seems to be in perfect agreement that the "first day of the week" mentioned in the Bible corresponds perfectly to our Sunday, today, the "first day of our modern week"]

The Bible doesn't say that He rose on Sunday -- it says that by the time the women got to the tomb on our Sunday morning as dawn began to break -- HE WAS ALREADY RISEN... NOT RISING!

This makes perfect sense, since He died on our Wednesday afternoon and buried just before sundown when the Passover fell in the midst of the week THAT PARTICULAR YEAR. Three days and nights from that time period puts His resurrection at the precise time He was buried, on our Saturday [or Sabbath] afternoon, just before sundown.

Scholarly debate rages to this day as to WHICH YEAR Jesus "died"... with a range of somewhere around 28 AD to 33 AD in the general mix.

But, if they can't get the "day of the week" right in their minds and hearts... they will never arrive at the right YEAR. At least so far, they haven't even stumbled upon it.

The Truth is that within the range of that general time frame... information obtained from the "U.S. Naval Observatory Astronomical Applications Department" regarding when certain modern calendar dates fell back in that time -- THE ONLY YEAR THAT THE PASSOVER FELL ON OUR WEDNESDAY, the only year that Jesus could have been 'cut off" in the "midst of the week" was:

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25, 31 AD!

The day Jesus died we call Good Friday, and the following Sunday we call Easter Sunday, and Easter in our calendar is usually celebrated in April.

So if we say that Jesus died in the month of April, I reckon that would be fairly accurate.

He died on Nisan 14, according to the Hebrew calendar. That corresponds to late March & Early April on our calendar. (It will vary from year to year; the Jewish calendar is lunar based.)
