It depends on what type of art you are planning to do. If you want traditional art then some art appreciation is necessary as a standard art class would be good. Graphic art would need a graphic design class and possibly a computer class as well. Drama for acting, there are a lot of different sorts of arts.
Try talking to a guidance counselor about it, or a teacher about it as well. There's bound to be someone you can speak to about courses for art. Try looking at colleges you want to go to as well. See what they require, sign up for their mailing address and get more information about what you need and what they give.

in new york state, i know, you are required to fulfill one art credit, which would be a studio art course. if you are referring to suggested art courses if you wish to pursue art in college, you should consider which style of art you like best: photography, video and digital art, ceramics, or drawing and painting. from there, either zone in on one or take a sampling of all. hopefully your school offers some advanced- level courses such as AP drawing and AP 2d.
To enroll in a art course you need to take more then one course, from 35$ to 50$ the college art courses are pretty much better, they don't cost that much.
If you don't need a credential, there are free courses offered by the W3C. If you need that piece of paper, try someplace like the Art Institute of Pittsburgh's online school.
