First, one has to rule out gastrointestinal cause such as reflux. If your chest pain is worse at night and is relieved upon standing up, then it might be reflux which is usually relieved with antacids and elimination of the following: coffee, tea, chocolates, peppermint, spicy meals and daily intake of proton-pump inhibitors once a day for 2 weeks. Second, one has to rule out cardiovascular cause by ordering EKG. Finally, one has to palpate the area and check out for pin point tenderness which entail musculoskeletal cause which is usually relieved with analgesics.

Lower right quadrant pain is associated with appendicitis. There are instances of appendicitis presenting with chest pain, however these are congenital anomalies and require thoracic surgery to remove the appendix. If there is acute lower right pain, this should be investigated by a physician especially if there is a possibility that you are pregnant. The descending and sigmoid colon sections are on the lower left as well.
