I am having the same issue AFTER replacing the torque converter and switch in the transmission. My check engine light was coming on with the transaxle light and the code read to replace these items BUT the transaxle light is still coming on. I am still trying to get an answer on this!
need to check transmission fluid level/ or transaxle fluid level
On a 2002 Ford Taurus : You could have the gear shift lever up by the steering wheel or by the floor console for your automatic transmission And , if you mean the automatic transaxle ( transmission ) fluid level dipstick , it is near the firewall between the engine and the brake fluid reservoir in the engine compartment
Check the thermostat. Another reason could be the head gaskets are blown.
check the thermostat or the fan motor could be the problem or a leak in radiator. just a thought
check fuse under dash driver side if not check switch on door
Check battery cables Loose ground cable Check starter solenoid Check neutral switch
my transmission is not shifting on my 2005 Ford Taurus what could be the problem
Check fuses. They both could have the same fuse.
another name is smog pump.this could cause light to come on.
Maf sensor check it they have a cleaner for it. Like 6.99 at auto zone
check your hoses, there could be a vacuum hose with a leak causing this problem
Take your car to an auto parts store such as AAA Autoparts or Pepboys. They will check it for free. There are many reasons why the light could come on.
