Hard to say without more info. such as age, medical history, current meds, etc. Also would be easier if I could look at it, touch it etc. If you are on Birth Control pills or have any circulatory problems, it could be a superficial blood clot, which needs to be seen by a doctor immediately. Many other possibilities, so get it checked out.
Hard lumps on your outer thigh can be anything. It can minor like acne, or serious like cancer. You should visit your doctor for a proper diagnosis.
Gluteus Medius (outer thigh). The thickness of it would variate.

Any lumps should be seen by your doctor. Hopefully, it is not serious, but get it checked.
This is just referring to the outer part of your thigh.
Go see a doctor if possible. If the lumps are hard and attached to the muscle, I'd get it checked out immediately.
all you have to do to charlie horse somebody is to punch them really hard in the thigh. P.S.-when i say hard i mean HARD!
