Methane is one of the simpler hydrocarbon gasses and is desigated as a compound CH4. The gas is found trapped in layers of the ground along with other gasses and is drilled for by energy companies such as Shell, Exon Mobil etc. It is also a byproduct of digestive processes in animals. Thus it can be found in the digestive tract of cows most oftenly mentioned, but also humans. Watch out where you strike that match.

Methane is CH4 and it's flammable. Carbon dioxide is CO2 and one of its uses is extinguishing methane fires. So...no.
