It is more of a shadow than a defined dark spot. As the embryo develops and at about day 15 that dark "spot" with take up most of the interior of the shell and not much light with appear from the interior when candled.

∙ 8y agoYou may not be able to see much for the first couple of days, but after about day 3 or 4, you should be able to see a red spot and maybe some veining working across the yolk.
