Best Answer

Gravity and air resistance will both play a part. Air resistance is likely to reduce speed and gravity will cause the bullet to be pulled towards the ground.

A bullet fired horizontally over level ground hits the ground in 0.5 seconds If it had been fired with twice the speed in the same direction it would have hit the ground when?

Assuming no affects from air and a smooth geography, both bullets would fall at the same rate of 9.81 m/s^2 toward earth, and hit the ground simultaneously. You have to look at the bullet's velocity as having a horizontal and vertical velocity vectors. The vertical velocity vector is independent from that of the horizontal. The horizontal vector would be the speed at which the bullet is fired, and the vertical vector is the speed at which the bullet falls due to gravity.

If an object in motion will stay in motion what causes a bullet shot into the air to fall?

An object in motion will stay in motion until acted on by another opposing force. So gravity causes a bullet to fall back to the ground, but wind and air resistance cause the bullet to not fall strait back from where it came, aka one barrel. ____________ The above is true, only if Newtons theories are correct. If Newtons Theories are incorrect, then the bullet performs in the manner The Creator of all things and happensings decreed that it will. [see discussion on this comment]

If you are travelling at X speed and fire something the opposite direction at X speed will it fall straight to the ground?

Yes, it will fall straight to the ground.

Where does a bullet goes after fired to the sky?

When a bullet is fired into the sky, it will eventually stop becasue it has run out of energy and fall back to the ground.

If you fired a bullet and it never dropped would it orbit the earth and hit you?

In theory, yes. In practice, no. In theory, You could fire the bullet with such a great speed that it would orbit the Earth, even if it was only at a height of 1 meter from Earth's surface. In practice, however, their is air resistance. This would cause the bullet to lose speed, and eventually it would fall the the ground.

If a large cal and small cal rifle are fired in a vacuum which bullet would land first?

ALL items- large or small- fall at the same speed when affected by gravity. A large bullet and a small bullet, both fired parallel to the ground, will hit at the same time if fired at the same time from the same distance above ground. The FASTER will hit further away, but at the same time.

Why doesn't an aircraft fall on the ground?

Actually, aircraft could fall on the ground if it's stalling (losing speed). The reason why their aren't any airplanes fall on the ground now is because most of the airplanes could warn the pilots if the aircraft is stalling and so the pilots will know they have to increase the speed.
