Being "tased" is a deadly force option. This means that the officer feels YOUR actions are threatening the life of those around you. The likely hood of death to you or the baby is much lower then using pepper spray or a bullet, but it is there.
Pepper spray is a more lethal option that, for some reason, people prefer police using. I would contend that taser use is a extremely useful method when dealing with control issues.
