you can go to any local chemists and pick up vitamin c tablets that will increase the amount of white blood cells in your immune system. white blood cells are the things that kill bacteria in your systemI am not a doctor but as child being in and out of the hospital all my life, I can say you can wash your hands after touching or using the restroom. You can also carry a mini bottle of germ-x with you at all times, you can cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. If you are to get extremely sick you should iscolate your self and stay home, or if you have a friend who is sick stay away or be very catious. Finally you can go and get the flu shot for extra protection.

Why it is difficult to produce immunity to common cold?

It's difficult to produce immunity to a common cold because the common cold is not one virus - it is over 700 viruses at last count. Rarely are more than 200 local to any particular area, but that is still, in effect, 200 different colds you can catch. Children tend to get the most colds, as all colds viruses are "new" to them. The amount of colds a person gets as they get older tends to decline, for that same reason - they've already had most of the indigenous colds viruses.

What are two types of acquired specific immunity?

There is innate immunity (that you are born with) and acquired immunity. Acquired immunity you get when you are vaccinated or you get the disease and fight it off. The best example is that of what we call common colds. There are about 100 different viruses that cause them. This is one reason that babies and young children seem to be always be coming down with one or getting over one.
