In high school, you should focus on taking as difficult of math and science courses as you can handle. In addition, after you turn 16, you can start volunteering or working as a kennel assistant at a vet clinic or a local animal shelter.
In undergraduate you should work to get as much experience with different animal species as possible, as well as continue to build experience working with or observing a veterinarian in action. You will be completing three years worth of classes such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Microbiology, Anatomy and Calculus, and you need to keep your grades up.
In vet school you can pretty much follow the curriculum, possibly taking the "small animal medicine" track if your school has tracking.
