Barley, rye, oats, and wheat. Gluten can also be in natural and artificial flavor and caramel color. It may also be in maltoextrin, modified food starch, and is always in malt. It can be in a lot of other things too, I should know. I've had Celiac disease for almost three years. My mom and I did a lot of research and put a big binder of gluten free foods and brands together. I would recommend calling the company if you aren't sure about something.
Great things you CAN eat are brown rice and quinoa. They make a lot of products with these ingredients as a base (i.e. brown rice bread, pasta etc..)
Edit: Actually the oats themselves don't contain gluten but oats are generally contaminated in transport with wheat which is why we avoid oats. It is possible to get oats that have not been contaminated and are therefore gluten free. A long term study published in 2007 showed no detrimental effects on celiacs from eating these oats.
Gluten is found in wheat and related plants like rye and barley. Anything which contains those, or flour made from them, will have gluten in it. Rice and corn flour do not have the same type of protein and may be okay.
certain parts of the body react to different things. i cant eat bread because it makes my stomach bloat.
Gluten free
Totally depends on if you are allergic to wheat. If you have a wheat sensitivity then you would want the gluten free, as gluten comes from wheat and is a sticky protein substance comprised of proteins gliadin and glutenin. If you have no wheat allergies then you could eat true whole wheat pizza crust.
You HAVE to eat gluten free if you have an intolerance to wheat.
No, I have not. Gluten free diets limit the foods you can eat, and these diets are practiced by people with allergies to gluten. Gluten is a protein found in wheat (including kamut and spelt), barley, rye, malts and triticale.
Sorry, no. It contains gluten (Wheat is a gluten-grain).
no
No. Wheat contains gluten. There are no gluten free shredded wheat-type cereals.
No, legumes do not contain gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, barley, and rye.
If you have a wheat allergy you can eat Oats that are specifically labeled GLUTEN FREE. You SHOULD NOT eat oats that are NOT specifically labeled "gluten free" as these oats contain wheat. This is because oats that are not gluten free use the same equipment to be processed as is used on wheat. Gluten free oats only use equipment for processing that NEVER touches wheat. Therefore they are safe to eat and are not contaminated with wheat.
You can find gluten-free breads, but most bread is made from wheat flour, which naturally has gluten in it.
yes. gluten is a wheat protein so vegans can eat it.
Yes, unless they are gluten intolerant.
