Well, the vaan daans were kinda bad neighbors, since Mrs.Van Daan always flirted with Mr.Frank and gave more food to Mr.Van Daan if she was dividing food. It was mostly the mother who was arguing to the van daans Mr.Frank just tried to make peace
Mr. Dussle did hide in the Secret Annex with the Franks. However he did not go into hiding at the same time the Franks did. The Franks went first, then the Van Daans, then Mr. Dussle became the 8th member several months later.
The Van Daans joined the Franks in the secret annex in 1942.

Dussel tells the Franks and Van Daans about the deteriorating conditions outside, such as food shortages, bombings, and persecutions of Jews. He also updates them on the progress of the war and the Allied forces' advances.
The Franks and the Van Daans did not carry suitcases to their hiding place because they did not want to draw attention and suspicion. Instead they wore as many layers of clothing as possible.
Miep and Mr. Kraler helped the Franks and the Van Daans because they were moved by their plight and wanted to assist those in hiding from the Nazis. They took great risks to provide food, supplies, and support to the families in hiding in the secret annex.
