The primary bodies of water near Greece are the Aegean Sea to the east, between Greece and Turkey, and the Ionian Sea to the west, between Greece and Italy.
The Mediterranean Sea borders these three countries as well as southern France, Monaco, Spain, northern Morocco, Algeria , Tunisia, Malta, Libya, Egypt Israel, Lebanon and Syria, Cyprus, , Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, and Slovenia, In particular, the coasts of Italy, Greece and part of Turkey are on specific bodies of water which are part of the Mediterranean Sea and are determined by the geographical shape of this sea in these areas. The western coast of Italy is on the Tyrrhenian Sea. The eastern coast of Italy is on the Adriatic Sea. The southern coast of Italy and the western coast of Greece are separated by the Ionian Sea. The eastern coast of Greece and the western coast of Turkey are separated by the Aegean Sea.
Greece is entirely in the Mediterranean Sea. The eastern coast of Greece is on a body of water of the Mediterranean Sea which is called Ionian Sea and separates Greece and Italy. The western coast of Greece is on a body of water of the Mediterranean Sea which is called Aegean Sea and which separates Greece and Turkey. The Greek coast on the Aegean Sea is longer than that on the Ionian Sea.
