Make sure all of your dates are outside his home. Be his friend and allow him to talk to you and you be a good listener. Offer him emotional ties outside the home. But be aware that he will almost certainly always have a close connection to his mother. Remember if you make him chose, you most likely will lose. If he is still a teenager he may grow out of it, if he is in his twenties, give up.
