Hurricanes and typhoons are the same weather phenomenon tropical cyclones and In the North Atlantic, central North Pacific, and eastern North Pacific, the term hurricane is used. The same type of disturbance in the Northwest Pacific is called a typhoon.

Cyclone is the generic term for an intense low-pressure system which generated high winds and often brings a large amount of rain. It is known as cyclone in the seas around Australia. Tropical cyclones in the North Atlantic are called hurricanes. In the China Sea, they are called typhoons.
