Captain Daves on the Gulf is the worst seafood restaurant in destin Florida - by far.
I have had better seafood at Captain D's - no kidding. The fish had obviously sat under a heat lamp for a large amount of time. Which only makes sense because it took us 75 minutes to get our food once we had been seated. Combine this with the hour long wait to be seated, the fact that we had to ask for silverware, had to ask for refills, and had a rude/overly familiar waitress who cussed in front of us about the kitchen getting 2 of our orders wrong - after the long wait. The shrimp was rubbery, the fish was hardened from the heat lamp, and it was $100 for a family of four. Like the other person said, the view was nice but everything else was unbearable. Save your money and go to Mcdonalds for a filet of fish - it will be fresher.

It maybe be a shipped to the restaurant the same day it is caught, but seafood has a short shelf life. If the seafood is fresh, you will pay a much higher amount of money for a dinner. Someone has to pay those transportation charges. Another fantastic area for fresh seafood, and wonderful seafood restaurants, would be any of the South Carolina and Georgia coastal areas. The shrimp boats deliver fresh shrimp in South Carolina and Georgia daily. They dock early in the morning and within an hour the local restaurants have their seafood for the day. Head for the coastline and you will find many fantastic seafood restaurants to pick from.
