Many people from many backgrounds traveled to America. This question is too open; a German could have moved as a result to prejudice from the Nazis, or for the reasons most other people moved to America back in 19th century

People Immigrate for many reason some of the three reason why people immigrate is because first they are hoping for a better life second education third political reason.
pretty sure it was because America had more freedom
For many reasons. Before, during and after the American Revolution Canadians would immigrate to Massachusetts and from Massachusetts for political reasons. Those loyal to the government and Crown would leave and those loyal to the revolution would arrive. Of course for many they would immigrate from Canada to Massachusetts for family. Many people in North America can trace their roots back to Massachusetts even today. Then there are those that move for jobs and economic reasons, which is likely the most common reason today.
The same reason most people immigrate to the US: to have a better life and escape the bad conditions in their homeland.
Post second WW there were very few jobs and absolutely no opportunities for people to rebuild their lives in Holland, the devastation due to bombing and starvation was indescribable so many immigrated by the thousands to Canada and the USA, where the opportunity to have a good life was obvious. Spain fared better than most European countries so they pretty well stayed put.
People immigrate to have a better life, to work in other countries, and for the sake of the people they love. Also because of religion sometimes or because of war in their home country.
One important reason is religion. Which religion they were I don't remember, probably Puritans or Quakers, either way they were persecuted for their beliefs in their home country.
