Answer

To make sure people of America have equal rights.

Answer
An amendment to the Constitution is a change that can add to the Constitution or change an older part of it. An amendment can even overturn a previous amendment, as the 21st did to the 18th(prohibition).
There are a few methods to amend the Constitution, but the most common is to pass an amendment through the Congress, on a two-thirds vote. After that, the amendment goes to the states, and if three-quarters of the states pass the amendment, it is considered a part of the Constitution - it has been ratified.

An amendment does not have anything to do with equality. The rights spelled out by the constitution are only the reaffirmation, and legal definitions of certain rights.

to protect the rights of the citizens.

A:While it would be valid to say that the constitution is to protect the rights of the citizens.

The first 10 amendments (The Bill of Rights) was designed to protect the rights of the citizens.

Additional amendments can be defined as either further clarifying citizen's rights, or updating major constitutional issues or further defining the federal government organization.

It essentially provides a template for all US law, and by definition is the set of laws that can not be declared unconstitutional.

While Congress can pass laws to support or clarify constitutional law, they are also the set of laws that Congress lacks the authority to directly modify, and thus provides a check on the powers of the Federal Governmental Bodies.

It's because our country's necessities change overtime, and as they change, changes and additions and modifications must be made to the Constitution. So instead of ruining the constitution and restarting with a new government, we just modify it (Offer a means for American citizens to change the government if necessary.)

The constitution was a set of laws or 'rules' applicable at the time it was created. Amendments create additional laws as the population adapted and evolved.
