Using a virtual assistant is no longer a mystery. It allows businesses, entreprenauers, and others to lower overhead, not pay for health care, pay only for the work completed, and have someone partner with you towards greater success. The work is completed based on a fee-scale normally, although there are virtual assistants that offer package specials (6-months of work for $....). You do not pay for office supplies, rent for the office, software upgrades, health care, their taxes...just the fee they quote. It is up to the virtual assistant to include in their fee the cost of their overhead, supplies, health care, etc. They have the skills necessary to complete the work you are unable to allowing you to focus on the aspects of business you enjoy. One of the cons is that the virtual assistant is not your employee - they are a business partner. This means that if you need something immediately many are not available 24/7 to complete last minute changes. You need to work with their schedules - they have the control to work when they want to. It is important when setting up the agreement for work completed that you understand their hours and timing of work completed. Always have an agreement signed that both parties understand. Another con is that fees vary depending on the virtual assistant. There are those that have higher training than others therefore their costs are much higher. Others just want to make a little extra money - not a business - so they are charging less but may not have quality or work provided on a timely basis.
