This happens in many different ways. One way is that excess sugar in the blood can glycate proteins in your circulatory system causing damage to blood vessels and the heart. Another way is that excess inflammation in the body caused by improper diet can cause plaque buildup on arterial walls. Blood pressure can also be increased by too much salt in the diet. This provides even more stress on the heart and blood vessels. There are many more reasons. Solution? Eat mostly fruits and vegetables!

Exercise enables you to burn fat more readily. If you eat a lot of fatty foods and not exercise, fat can build up in your blood vessels, especially those in the heart.

The fat stops smooth blood flow in the heart, and in severe cases, it completely blocks off the blood vessel; thus, heart disease.
