LED Display - Light Emitting Diode Display: More of a gimmick than anything. The key difference between LED and LCD displays is that instead of fluorescent bulbs being used as a backlight, it's just LED's around the edge of the screen. Same thing, waste of money.
OLED - Organic Light Emitting Diode: Now this is different because each pixel is individually illuminated, versus being backlit. This allows for the display to be extremely thin, 3mm for example.

Projector - Latest type is DLP, or Digital Light Projection, made almost exclusively by Mitsubishi. A laser fires light beams at a mirror and then get projected onto the screen, thus giving you an image.

∙ 10y agoThe two primary types of displays for computers are TN and IPS panels. TN panels are built with a more established technology; they've been around for a while. For standard use computing, at home, work, etc, TN panel monitors will be sufficient for most workstation or consumer purposes. They're also extremely affordable. A simple ASUS TN panel monitor can be as low as 120USD. TN panels characteristically have more muted colors than IPS panels, and are often used for gaming because TN panel monitors can accommodate high refresh rates for PC gaming. By comparison, most IPS monitors characteristically have more accurate color reproduction, lower refresh rate, and higher resolutions.
