The air inhale and pass through the ventilation tract, starts gas exchange process in the alveoli of the lungs, and oxygen pick up by pulmonary veins which goes to left heart, then passes through systemic arteries and distributed to tissue capillaries, this is where carbon dioxide send back to right heart and pump it back to the alveoli, lung capillaries.
