Alchemy is the predecessor to chemistry. Many discoveries by alchemist (especially their instruments) were later used in chemistry. The key difference between the two is that alchemy was more experimentation and had little bases on science (for instance they would just randomly combine materials in the hopes of making a philosophers stone or elixir of life), relying instead on random practice and mythology. While chemistry utilizes both experimentation and scientific practices. In short chemistry is derived from its primitive ancestor alchemy.
The alchemists were the first chemists. They mixed chemicals, but also believed that magic would help them in their experiments and formulas. It didn't. But their chemical experiments eventually led to the science of chemistry.

Alchemy was responsible for much of our knowledge of substances and their behaviour. Like many human endeavours, though, it was hampered in its progression until the application of the scientific method took it out of the realms of philosophy, and replaced pre-conceived ideas with interpretations based on fact.
You change a less useful item/material into something more useful with an equal value. Hope this helped!
Because they thought it was really green with purple spots.
Alchemy is sometimes referred to as 'early chemistry'. It was Robert Boyle who, in the 17th century, changed alchemy to chemistry. Alchemy derives from an Arabic word meaning chemistry.

Dodge Neon, Chevy Cobalt, and Saturn Ion. Car names related to chemistry. Woo-hoo chemistry!
Newton was interested in alchemy and it is thought likely he absorbed the mercury during these experiments. It is possible mercury poisoning contributed to his eccentricity in later life. Ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Newton
Alchemy was the first.
alchemy is better than chemistry although chemistry is fun to do

Alchemy WAS - but as new rules were discovered it either changed into chemistry OR it became "unscientific".
chemistry uses experiments to test ideas, while alchemy used superstitious practices.
chemistry
It was the pre-chemistry.
This was alchemy.
Chemistry developed from alchemy after the 1700s. It was the Alchemist observations and accidental discoveries that brought around modern chemistry.
Alchemy is not used any more. In this era, we use chemistry.

They both use chemicals. But alchemy used magic also.
