I have just gotten out from under mine and here's what I found out making my hands very sore replacing them.
1. The top belt that is fatter is the alternator belt, you need to loosen the 10mm long bolt and then the 12mm one on top (*don't loosen either all the way*)
2. The other top skinny one is for the power steering, there is a bolt to loosen on the top that is hidden under some wires. Then there is a pivot point bolt to loosen underneath as well.
3. The bottom belt is for the A/C and only touches the compressor and the main crank.
the alternator will be on the end of the engine that has the drive belts or serpentine belts, alternators are belt driven.
it really depends on which engine. some engines use chains to drive the camshaft(s), whilst others use belts. Some use belts (for the cam(s)) AND a chain to drive the oil pump

It keeps drive belts under tension (pulled tight)
Two accessory belts and one timing belt.

No ... timing belts and the transmission are not related in any way. The timing belts are in the engine and keep all the pistons functioning properly. The transmission uses the power from the engine to drive the wheels.
Yes. Drive belts are what keep the engine parts working together in order. If the drive belt goes, the engine will crank with the key turned, but the engine will not "turn over."
The Drive belts are for powering your accessories( power steering pump, alternator, a/c compressor). The VQ30de engine in your car has a timing chain, which is designed for the life of the motor. (a lot of import cars have a cam drive belt, that needs changing or risk engine damage).
Depends on year and engine. Any after 1996 have serpentine belts.
First of all, they are the same as the fan belts on any other car. The fan belt(s) are the serpentine drive belt(s) that turn your fan and other accessories (like alternator, compressor, power steering) They are often referred to as serpentine belts, drive belts, and accessory drive belts. The are located on the outside of your engine, driven by the main pulley (crankshaft pulley). R. Mesyef
There is ( 1 ) serpentine belt used to drive the engine accesories : ( But there are different belts used depending on what engine you have " Vulcan " with air conditioning , " Vulcan without air conditioning , the DOHC " Duratec " engine etc. )
