Before I can answer your question, I need you to think about the answers to the questions I am about to ask: 1. Who is the person abusing you? Family member, teacher, church member, friend, friend of friend, friend's parent? You don't have to answer these questions verbally. Just focus on who is hurting you. 2. Now that you are focused on who is harming you, think about who you trust the MOST? A parent, a friend, a school teacher, a pastor, an anonymous person on a hotline. In other words, who would you open up to and feel safe. 3. Contact that individual immediately by any means that you can. If the abuse is taking place at home and you think it is about to happen, IF IT IS SAFE, get a phone, dial 911 & leave the phone off the hook. If it is a cell phone, check to make sure the volume is down so the operator can hear what is going on but no one can hear him or her (in the event you cannot talk). Also, try to find a safe place to hide or if you can escape, do so. Seek help from the nearest neighbor you TRUST. 4. When and if you speak to authority (i.e, the police or social services), try to remember as much as you can and always be honest. 5. You should also know that there are alot of agencies out there to help you and that you are not alone. If you have access to a computer, Google or Yahoo or whatever you prefer the search terms "child abuse hotline" or other similar terms adding additional information like your state, county, or zip code. For example: You can call the Child Abuse Hotline: 1-888-531-8610. PLEASE, whatever you do, DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT FURTHER RISK. TELL SOMEONE YOU TRUST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
