Powell is generally highly regarded. His resignation as Secretary of State during Baby Bush's first term, rather than continuing to associate himself with a policy based upon fraud, is rare and highly commendable. It shows he has come a long way as a person, since the days when as a young Major on the staff of MAC-V he actively participated in the cover-up of the My Lai Massacre. No one much seems to hold that against him these days.
