I know that there is a desperate need for nurses everywhere, I am a CT tech in Texas and I know there are two positions open in my hospital. There are several positions open for a ultra Sound tech. You could almost right your ticket in salary as a registered vascular ultra sound tech. The radiology programs require you to have basics for standard associate degrees with human anatomy for science before appling to the programs. Then you have 2 years of radiology classes and clinicals. Then you can specialize with one more year in CT, MRI, Radiation Therapy, Ultra Sound, Specials to name a few. I believe there are schools now that you can go to to become Ultra Sound Techs and Nuclear Medicine Techs without becoming Radiology Techs first, but I have heard its real hard for you. There are many more jobs, but I'm in this field and its what I know the most about. My husband is a paramedic. You could become a Basic, Intermediate or paramedic working on an ambulance, but it's alot of work with alot of responsibility with alot less pay.
