The tradition of arranged marriages is based on the belief that it is inefficient to leave it to young people to find spouses for themselves, when their parents can arrange marriages so much more efficiently. If all young women are prepared to be wives, and all young men are prepared to be husbands, then in principle any young woman can marry any young man. Normally, of course, people are chosen on a variety of criteria, including ethnicity and religion, and their level of educational and professional accomplishment, as well as useful family connections.

One needs to be willing to respect and trust that the mediator for the arrange marriage such as your parents, friends, siblings are going to find the right partner. Also, in some cultures women's choice in matter is not respected as they are expected to follow the decisions of their parents like they know better. Such practices often lead to bad decisions and very compromising situations for women. Women and Men obviously should be given the choice to choose their partners in life. And, the most freedom you can get is from finding one yourself through a love marriage. Another aspect of that is, if you have not given sufficient time to get to know the person, how would you know whether they are compatible or even if they meet the same wavelength as yourself. In some cultures, the man never even gets to see the woman until after the wedding ceremony which is quite awkward as by that time they have already taken marriage vows as complete strangers to start a life together. In modern times, at least among educated societies, the idea of arrange marriages is becoming a lot similar in concept to love marriages while still respecting and upholding certain cultural and traditional limitations and values. If two people are interested in each other, of their own accord, and want to marry, then it shouldn't really matter how they met or how their marriage came about.
