The cons of gun control include the fear that people will begin to buy guns illegally once they are no longer available legally. Another con is the idea that gun control is contrary to the constitution.
No law abiding citizen would (in their right mind) buy a machine gun or a similarly dangerous type of weapon. Also, it does not make sense to sell weapons to known criminals or people who are known to be mentally unstable. To go further, it would make sense to licence gun owners and gun dealers to reduce the chances of guns falling into the hands of the wrong people.
2nd amendment is the only one that protect all the others.
Every government that turn on their people start with gun registration and move to confiscation. With out protection you at the mercy of the government.
Gun control laws are based on a couple of fallacies. One is that by regulating THINGS, we can control behavior of PEOPLE. Drunk driving is not a reason to pass laws that regulate cars. A second fallacy is to assume that criminals who do not obey laws against assault, robbery, and murder will obey a law that has to do with guns. A third fallacy is that increased private ownership of guns means increases in crime- when experience has shown that the opposite is true.
Law abiding people do not stop being law abiding just because they have access to a gun. It does better enable them to protect themselves from criminals that may be younger, bigger, stronger, or more numerous. In all states that have implemented access to concealed weapons permits, crimes have gone down. People that will break laws about robbery, kidnapping, and murder will also break laws about guns. Finally, in the US, the right of the people to be armed is a specific right listed as the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.
The constitution gives "the right to bear arms". The constitution has the final say in an argument like this and it says that they can have guns.
The basic arguments FOR gun control are that it is needed to keep guns away from people that should not have them.
